This tour drives overland from Kathmandu to Lhasa across the Himalayas by way of the incredible Arniko Highway that connects Nepal with Tibet. Enjoy fabulous mountain scenery enroute, visit mystical Buddhist monasteries of Tashilungpo at Shigatse, the Kumbum Stupa at Gyantse, and drive past the beautiful Turquoise lake. In Lhasa visit the famous Potala and Norbulinkha palaces, the great Drepung Monastery and walk through the bustling Barkor Bazaar before flying back to Kathmandu (or onward to China). A choice of hotels are available in Lhasa and in other places. An unforgettable encounter with forbidden' Tibet.

DAYS ITINERARY for
Overland Tour From Kathmandu To Lhasa.
1 Saturday: KATHMANDU - ZHANGMU
Drive from Kathmandu to Tibet Border. Cross Friendship Bridge into Tibet and meet Tibet Guide. Drive to Zhangmu or continue to Nyalam.  Hotel in Zhangmu or Nyalam. 
 
2 Sunday: ZHANGMU - XEGAR
Drive to Xegar crossing NYALAMU PASS (3800m.) & LALUNG LA PASS (5050m.). This drive offers fantastic view of the high mountains including Everest (8848m.). Hotel in Xegar or Tingri.
3 Monday: XEGAR - SHIGATSE 
Drive (Approx 8hrs) to Xigatse. Shigatse has the famous Tashilunpo Monastery and the seat of Panchen Lama. Hotel in Shigatse.
4 Tuesday: SHIGATSE - GYANTSE
In the morning visit Tashilunpo Monastery and the free market of Shigatse. In the afternoon drive to Gyantse and visit Phalkor Monastery and Khumbum Stupa. O/nt at Hotel Gyantse.

Wednesday: GYANTSE - LHASA
The drive to Lhasa takes 08 hours, crossing two passes - THE KAROLA (5010M.) and KAMBA LA (4794M.) via Yamdrok Tso lake.

Thursday: LHASA SIGHTSEEING TOUR 
Guided sightseeing tour of Potala, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama; Drepung, the biggest monastic university of Tibet & Nechung Monastery, temple of the State oracle of Tibet. Hotel in Lhasa.

7 Friday: LHASA SIGHTSEEING 
Guided sightseeing tour of Jokhang, the central cathedral of Tibet, Barkhor, the bustling Lhasa market encircling the Jokhang Temple, Tibetan Medical Center & Norbulinka Palace. Hotel in Lhasa.
8 Saturday: DEPARTURE FROM TIBET
Transfer to airport for flight to Kathmandu, Chengdu or Beijing.
